Panth means way, so those who follow the way shown by Guru Nanak Dev ji, are called Nanak Panthis.

Majority of them follow the Khalsa Panth, later established by Guru Gobind Singh ji and hence are called Khalsa(Pure) or Sikhs.

They are commonly now known as Sikhs, ie followers of Sikhism.

Guru Nanak Dev ji, born in a Hindu family, were a thinker from childhood.

As others, he was sent to school, but he was such a sharp mind, that soon the teacher didn’t have anything left to teach him.

Guru Nanak ji, used to question everything and especially the prevailing rituals in the society which were mainly meant to favor the priests of the village/society.

He always was against any kind of discrimination.
