The answers are as follows -
- Purification of crude sample of iodine can be done by two ways namely 1. sublimation 2. Heating with sulfuric acid. Then crystallization is done at lower temperature. For the second method, washing and drying also needs to be done to remove sulfuric acid and water from the crystals.
- On heating mixture of iron fillings and sulphur strongly, sulphur will begin to melt. The reaction occurs and the product formed is iron II sulphide or FeS. The product is greyish black in colour.
