Harshvardhana used to hold a religious assembly at Prayag

  • Hiuen-Tsang was making arrangements to go back  after the Kannauj Assembly ended, but ruler Harshavardhana invited him to attend another Assembly at Prayag.
  • He used to hold on the confluence of Ganga and Yamuna after five years. There were hitherto five such assemblies, and this was the sixth assembly to which Hiuen-Tsang was invited.
  • The assembly had set a great example of Harshavardhana 's generosity, as  during the assembly he donated all his personal wealth and belongings to charity.
