Upon independence in August 1947, the title of Viceroy was abolished. The representative of the British Sovereign became known once again as the Governor-General. C. Rajagopalachari became the only Indian Governor-General.

Matters which are not included in any of the three lists are known as residuary subjects and the right to make laws on these subjects is called residuary power. The central government (the Parliament) has been given rights to legislate on these subjects.Example of residuary subjects are software, hardware, etc.

The subordinate courts are tge courts which deal both civil and criminal cases. The subordinate courts are situated in districts. There are three types of subordinate courts in India. They are: Junior civil judge/ junior first class magistrate

Creamy layer is a term used in Indian politics to refer to the relatively forward and better educated members of the Other Backward Classes (OBCs), who are not eligible for government-sponsored educational and professional benefit programs.
