Answer: Soil conservation may be defined as the application of various methods and techniques to avoid the removal of soil and conserving the soil. It is important as soil as it is important for the survival of human beings. Soil is the most important component for agriculture without which the humans cannot survive. Also, the removal of soil may lead to many types of various types of disasters such as floods etc. Few methods to conserve soil are:

1) Various plants, trees, shrubs and grass should be planted as the roots of these plants holds the soil thus conserving the soil at its place.

2) Cover crops should be grown on the land during the off season which helps to prevent soil erosion by holding the soil and not letting it get eroded by wind or water easily  and thus contributing in the conservation of soil.

3) Topsoil should be covered by mulch which helps the land to retain moisture and helping in the conservation of soil.
