DEGREES OF COMPARISON :

There are three degrees of comparison. They are : Positive Degree, Comparative Degree and Superlative Degree.

POSITIVE DEGREE :

>> In Positive Degree, the adjectives are not compared but they are in basic form.

Ex : Captain Brainly is a good boy.

COMPARATIVE DEGREE :

>> In Comparative Degree, the adjectives are in comparison form. They compare two persons, places or things ( nouns ).

Ex : A car is costlier than bike.

SUPERLATIVE DEGREE :

>> In Superlative Degree, the adjectives are in highest form. They compare more than two nouns. In this degree "the" is used.

DEGREES :

Positive Degree of Adjective :

When no comparison is done and the degree remains at its base position, then this degree of adjective is called positive degree.

Example : Bad

Comparative Degree of Adjective :

When the comparison is done between the two objects ( nouns/ pronouns) , then this degree of adjective is called comparative degree.

Example : Worse

Superlative Degree of Adjective :

When the comparison is done to find the superiority and topmost quality of more than two nouns or pronouns , then the degree of comparison of adjective is called superlative degree.

Example : Worst.
