There are several factors which lead to soil erosion:-

1] Deforestation: The trees which help in holding the soil firmly are cut down and the soil is let loose and during rains the top layer of soil gets washed away which makes the soil infertile.

2]Overgrazing: Excessive grazing could cause damage to grassland.

3] Water: Over watering or floods could degrade the quality of soil.

4] Barricades: If proper barricades are not made for farming on hilly regions then the water will wash away the top layer of soil.
