Join forest management is a concept of devoliping patnership between the state forest department and local communities tha are dependent upon forest for their requirement.the mechanism include a village committie known as forest protection committie tha enters into an agreement with the forest department.the village committie safeguard the forest resourse from fire,gaing and illegal harvesting in return of non-timber products and revenue from timber products thus it is depend upon the mutual trust and cooperation and has emerged as form of sustaianable forestry.The national JFM guideliness where issued in 1990 and 22 states are now implimenting the program.
