Answer:

value of x is 4 and y is 5.

Step-by-step explanation:

let,

 \frac{1}{x - 1}  = u \: \\  \frac{1}{y - 2}  = v

5u + v = 2 (eq 1)

6u - 3v= 1 (eq 2)

( eqⁿ 1 ) × 3,

we got

15u + 3v = 6 (eqⁿ 3 )

( eqⁿ 2 ) + ( eqⁿ 3)

21u = 7

u = 7/21 = 1/3

u = 1/3 ( eqⁿ 4 )

( eqⁿ 4 ) - ( eqⁿ 2 )

6(1/3) - 3v = 1 ( as 3 × 2 = 6 , 6 got replaced with 2 )

v = 1/3

1/x-1 = u

1/x-1 = 1/3

x - 1 = 3

x = 3 + 1

x = 4

and

1/y-2 = v

1/y-2 = 1/3

y = 3 + 2

y = 5

hope this answer helps you dear...take care!
