therefore,
5u-2v=1/2...........eqn(i)

10u+2v=5/2.......eqn(ii)

on solving (i) and (ii)

-2v and +2v gets canceled

hence,
15u=3
u=3/15
u=1/5

u=1/5
1/x=1/5
therefore x=5

substituting x=5 in 5/x+1-2/y-1=1/2

5/5-2y=1/2
1-2y=1/2
taking LCM
y-2/y=1/2
cross multiplying
2y-2=y
2y-y=2
y=2

hence x=5 and y=2
