Let 1/x be a and 1/y be b .

So 5a+b=2 ...(1) and

6a-3b=1...(2) Multiply (1) by 3 and add it to (2) equation , 15a+3b+6a-3b = 6+1=7 => 21a = 7 => a =1/3 and Substitute a=1/3 in equation (1), 5a+b=2 => 5(1/3)+b=2 => b=2 -5/3 => b= 1/3 Hence 1/x =1/y =1/3 => x=y=3 .
