now put value of "y" in equation(1) ,we get

5x + 3( - 85 / 8 ) = 15

5x - 255 / 8 = 15

5x = 15 + 255 / 8

x = 375 / 40

x = 75 / 8

hence, value of

x = 75/8 ,and y = - 85 / 8
