( 5 +x ) /( 5 - x ) - ( 5 + x ) / ( 5 + x ) = 15 / 4

( 5 + x )^2 -( 5 - x )( 5 + x ) / (5)^2 - (x)^2 =15 / 4

25 + x^2 + 10x - 25 + x^2 / 25 - x^2
= 15 / 4

2x^2 + 10 x / 25 - x^2 =
15 / 4

8x^2 + 40x = 375 - 15 x^2

=23x^2 + 40x - 375= 0

x( 23x + 40 ) - 375 = 0

min.value of "x"

23x + 40 = 0

23x = - 40

x = - 40 / 23

TheLostMonk: according to question which i written in the start ,this will be the right value of "x" . your question was little voque because you didnt put the terms under brackets ,may it be messed up ,but i had written in the first column , according to that my ans.my value of "x" is right

-25/3 is the value of x.

Step-by-step explanation:

\frac{5 + x}{5 - x } - \frac{5 - x}{5 + x} = \frac{15}{4}

\frac{(5 + x)^2 - (5-x)^2}{(5-x) (5+x)} = \frac{15}{4}

\frac{25 + x^2 + 10x - (25 + x^2 - 10x)}{25 - x^2} = \frac{15}{4}

\frac{ 25 + x^2 + 10x - 25 - x^2 + 10x}{25 - x^2} = \frac{15}{4}

\frac{20x}{25 - x^2} = \frac{15}{4}

⇒ 80x = 375 - 15x^2

⇒ 15x^2 + 80x - 375 = 0

⇒ 3x^2 + 16x - 75 = 0

x = (-b ± \sqrt{b^2 - 4ac})/2a

= (-16 ± \sqrt{256 + 900})/6

= (-16  ± 34)/6 = 18/6 = 3

= (-16-34)/6 = -50/6 = -25/3

x = \frac{-25}{3}
