(5+x)=3(5+y) ------------(2)
solve them by elimination method... you wl get the answer.....

Let the age of his son be x years.
Therefore, his father's age =7x years
Present age of son =(x+5) years
Present age of father =(7x+5)years
Five years after,
Age of son =(x+5+5)=(x+10) years
Age of father =(7x+5+5)=(7x+10)years
Now, according to the question
(7x+10)=3(x+10)
=7x+10=3x+30
=7x-3x=30-10
=4x=20
=x=20/5=4years
So, present age of son =4+5=9 years
Present age of father =7×4+5=33years
