5 year ago father's age was five times as old as his son and after 3 years he will be 3 times as old as his son find the present age of sun

let father's age be 'x' and son's age be y,,

THEN according 2 first situation,,,

x-5= 5(y-5)

x-5y = -20==(1)

,, then Second

x+3= 3(y+3)

x-3y= 6==(2)


subtract 1 from 2...

we get

x-5y= -20
x-3y= 6
-2y= -20-6

2y= 26

y= 13.... son's age,,,

THEN substitute it in any one of the above equation...

let take 1

x-5(13)= -20

x-65= -20

x= 65-20

x= 35.... fathers age,,,
