Hi friend
--------------
Your answer
--------------------

Let the age of joy be x and age of Mary be y.

Then,
-----------

Equations
------------------

(x - 5) = 3(y - 5).......... (i)

(x + 10) = 2(y + 10).........(ii)

From equation (i), we get,
--------------------------------------

(x - 5) = 3(y - 5)

x - 5 = 3y - 15

x = 3y - 15 + 5

x = 3y -10...... (iii)

Again,
-----------

From equation (ii), we get,
----------------------------------------

(x + 10) = 2(y + 10)

x + 10 = 2y + 20

x = 2y + 20 - 10

x = 2y + 10........ (iv)

SOLVING (BY METHOD OF COMPARISON)
---------------------------------------------------------------

On comparing the values of x from equation (iii) and (iv), we get,
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3y - 10 = 2y + 10

3y - 2y = 10 + 10

y = 20

Then,
-----------

Mary's age = y = 20 years

Joy's age = x = 2y + 10 = 2*20 + 10 = 40 + 10 = 50 years

HOPE IT HELPS
