Let the present age of Ankita be x years and that of Ajita be y years.

Five year's ago

Age of Ankita =(x−5) years and

Age of Ajita=(y−5) years

According to the question, we have x−5=3(y−5)

or x−3y=−10 ..........(i)

After ten years,

Age of Ankita will be =(x+10) years

and age of Ajita will be =(y+10) years

According to the question, we have

x+10=2(y+10)

or x−2y=10 ............(ii)

Subtracting eq.(i) from eq.(ii), we get

y=20

Hence, x−3(20)=−10

∴x=50

Thus, the present age of Ankita is 50 years and that of Ajita is 20 years

let nutan age=x

let shaila age = y

5 years ago-

nutan age= x-5

shaila age = y-5

Given - nutan age was thrice the age of shaila

so,

(x-5)= 3(y-5)

=x-5= 3y-15

= x= 3y-10.............(1)

After 10 years-

nutan age= x+10

shaila age = y+10

Given- .after 10 years nutan will be twice the age of shila

so,

x+10= 2(y+10)

= x+10= 2y+20

= x= 2y+10..............(2)

from (1) and (2)

3y-10=2y+10

3y-2y=10+10

y=20

x=2y+10

x= 2(20)+10

= 50

so, nutan is 50 years old

and shaila is 20 years old
