Let the age of Parvati be =X and let the age of her son be=y .Five years ago age of Parvati will be=x-5 ,Four times of y's age = 4y .Now, x-5=4y --eq.1. , Sum of parvati's and son's age = X+y=55 , X=55-y ---eq.2. Substitute eq.2 in eq.1 : x-5= 4y , (55-y)-5=4y , 55-y-4y= 5 ,
55-5y=5 , -5y=5-55 ,
-5y=-50 , y=10 .Therefore substitute value of y in any of the above equation. You get X+10=55 ,
X =45 .
Present age of parvati is X=45 and son's age is Y=10.
