let their ages be ( five yrs ago)= 5x and x
present ages will be = 5x+5 and x+5
so their ages are=
5x+5=x+5+28
5x-x= 5+28-5
4x=28
therefore x=28/4 which is 7
the father's age is 40 age the sons age is 12
40+12=52 years
