Before Charles Darwin 's book origin of species, the general impression was that all living beings were created by some divine power (ishvara), and that their number, shape and form had always been assured. But after the publication of the book (1859), evolutionary thought took its place, and like other animals, it was generally asked for man what animal or animal population it developed.
