50 is divided in two brothers such that 7 is added to 1/4 of younger brothers share is1/2 of the elder brothers share. find the amount of money received by each

Let younger brother's share = x

and,  elder brother's share = y

so, x + y = 50 .....................................(1)

We are also given,

= 7 + x/4 = y/2

so, 28 + x = 2y

   2y - x = 28 ......................................(2)

Solving Eqn. (1) and (2)

x = 24 and y = 26

Hence,  younger brother's share = 24

and,       elder brother's share = 26
