20 people, working 10 hours a day, complete the work in 10 days if 50 people can repair a road in 5 days, working 8 hours a day

Given:

50 people can repair a road in 5 days, working 8 hours a day.

To Find:

Number of days  20 people will take working 10 hours a day to complete the work

Solution:

50 people can repair a road in 5 days, working 8 hours a day.

Hence total work = 50 * 5 * 8  = 2000 Man hours

20 people, working 10 hours a day

Hence work done in 1 day = 20 * 10 = 200 Man hours

Let say 20 people complete work in d days

Then Total work done = 200 * d Man hours

Equate Total work

200d = 2000

=> d = 10

Hence 20 people, working 10 hours a day, complete the work in 10 days if 50 people can repair a road in 5 days, working 8 hours a day
