Vital capacity is the maximum amount of air that is expelled from the lungs in case of maximum intake of air .
It is equal the sum of these capacities :-
→ Inspiratory reserve volume
It is equal to the amount of air that can be inhaled after normal inhalation .
→ Expiratory reserve volume
It is equal to the amount of air that can be exhaled after normal exhalation.
→ Tidal volume
It is equal to the amount of air during normal inhalation .
→ The vital capacity gives us a rough idea of the respiratory capacities .
→ The vital capacity is useful for studying the maximum air intake .
→ It helps us to find the capacity of a human lung .
