Why are the springs made of steel and not of copper.

here is your answer

good spring will be that in which a large restoring force is developed on being deformed. This in turn depends on the elasticity of the material of the spring. Since Young's modulus for steel is more than that of copper, therefore the springs made of steel and not of copper.

steels are much elastic than the copper that's why steel is used for making springs for big uses
