cross cutting is an editing technique occurring at the same time, and usually in the same place. In a cross-cut, the camera will cut away from one action to another action, which can suggest the simultaneity of these two actions but this is not always the case

If Social differences cross-cut one another, it is difficult to pit one group of people against the other.

It means these groups that share a common interest on one issue are likely to be in different sides on a different issue.

Cross-cut social differences are easier to accommodate.

Example: Northern Ireland & Netherlands both are predominantly Christians but divided between Catholics & Protestants
