solution:

1) 3x−1≤−7

let take 3x -1 = -7

3x = -7 + 1

3x = 6

x = 6/3

x = 2 i.e. x ≤ 2

2) 3x+1>7

let take

3x+1=7

3x = 7-1

3x = 6

x = 6/3

x = 2 i.e. x > 2
