Answer :

Unsaturated hydrocarbon does not decolourise bromine water which reddish yellow in colour, but vegetables oils and other oils like coconut oil, amla oil, mustard oil and other compounds of hydrogen and carbon like ethane, methane and so on decolourise the Bromine water because it is saturated hydrocarbons.

When you reacts ethane with Bromine water, it decolourise bromine water.
