Answer:

Price of pencil: x

Price of pen:y

₹50= 3y+4x ( EQUATION 1)

₹60=3y+6x (EQUATION 2)

Subtracting (EQUATION 1) from (EQUATION 2)

₹10=2x ( After subtraction)

x=10÷2=5

Therefore, price of a pencil is ₹5.

Given : Price of 3 pens and 4 pencils is 50 rupees.

To Find :  Price of a pencil

Solution:

Price of 1 pen  = x    Rs

Price of 1 pencil = y   Rs

Price of 3 pens and 4 pencils is 50 rupees.

=> 3x  + 4y  = 50     Eq1

Price of 3 pens and 6 pencils is 60 rupees.

=> 3x  + 6y  = 60    Eq2
