500 ml of monoatomic gas x diffuses through a hole at pressure 4 atom and 127degree c. 1500 ml of another diatomic gas Y diffuses through a same hole at pressure 2 atm and 27 degree Celsius if time taken for both the diffusion process is same then compare the atomic weight of the two gases

Explanation:

....

Rate of diffusion is inversely proportional to √Molecular weight

 \frac{R_{1}}{R_{2}} = \sqrt{\frac{M_2}{M_1}} \times \frac{p_1}{p_2} \\ \\ \frac{\frac{500}{\cancel{time}}}{\frac{1500}{\cancel{time}}} = \sqrt{\frac{M_2}{M_1}} \times \frac{4}{2} \\ \\ \frac{1}{3} = \sqrt{\frac{M_2}{M_1}} \times 2 \\ \\ \therefore \frac{M_2}{M_1} = \frac{1}{36}
