Answers
Howrah Bridge is located over the Hooghly River in West Bengal, India. The bridge was constructed in 1943 and originally named as the New Howrah Bridge because it substituted a floating bridge at the same place connecting the two towns of Howrah and Kolkata. On 14 June 1965, it was renamed as Rabindra Setu after the renowned Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore, who was the leading Indian and Asian Nobel laureate.
The bridge is a popular representation of Kolkata and West Bengal. It overcomes the winds of the Bay of Bengal province, by carrying regular traffic of almost 100,000 vehicles and perhaps more than 150,000 foot-traveler, by simply making it the liveliest cantilever platform in the world.
The Howrah Bridge is currently the sixth-longest platform of its kind in the world.
