Jahangir (also Nur-ud-din

Mohammad Salim, Prince Salim) was the fourth Emperor of Mughal Empire. After Akbar's death, his eldest son Salim sat on the throne.

Prince Salim was now known as Jahangir who not only kept intact the conquests of his father, but even added to them. His mother was Jodha Bai.

He was born on 30th August, 1569 at Fatehpur Sikri. He reigned from 1605 to 1627.

Jahangir compelled Rana Amar Singh of Mewar to submit to him. Ahmadnagar had risen in revolt. Jahangir put down that rebellion, too. The Afghans of Bengal also were defeated.
