Answer:

One cannot emphasize enough on the importance of freedom fighters. After all, they are the ones because of whom we celebrate Independence Day. No matter how small a role they played, they are very much significant today as they were in those times. Moreover, they revolted against the colonizers so as to stand up for the country and its people.

Furthermore, most of the freedom fighters even went to war to safeguard the freedom of their people. It did not matter that they had no training; they did it for the pure intention of making their country free. Most of the freedom fighters sacrificed their lives in the war for independence.

Most importantly, freedom fighters inspired and motivated others to fight injustice. They are the pillars behind the freedom movement. They made people aware of their rights and their power. It is all because of the freedom fighters that we prospered into a free country free from any kind of colonizers or injustice.

Answer:

Today we are living in a free country enjoying every right and benefits of a free developing nation. But this freedom is not a result of overnight struggle. India got freedom from the British Empire after the long struggle of over 100 years. Many freedom fighters sacrifice their life to make us free. Contribution of these Indian freedom fighters will remain eternal and keep all of us inspire till date. It was not an easy task to get freedom from the British rules but the struggle of our Indian freedom fighters makes it possible. Many movements and policies were conducted against the British Empire and finally India became free on 15th August, 1947. The ‘Revolt of 1857’ was the first war of independence. Mangal Pandey, Rani Lakshmibai, Nana Sahib, Tatya Tope and Bahadur Shah Zafar were some of the brave freedom fighters who fought in the revolt against the British policies. This first revolt encouraged many others to fight for independence. In 1876 another big movement was started against the British rule when Surendranath Banerjee laid the foundation of the Indian National Congress (INC) to represent the views of the educated middle class community in front of Britishers. Many famous freedom fighters of that time such as Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Chittaranjan Das, and Dadabhai Naoroji joined the INC and start working collectively against the Britishers policies. In 1920

Mahatma Gandhi and the Indian National Congress started Non-Cooperation Movement to oppose the British policies in India through nonviolent means. Because of the failure of Non-Cooperation Movement Gandhi led the Civil Disobedience Movement in December 1929 with an aim to disobey all the orders of the British Government. The British Government tried to repress the movement and resorted to brutal firing, killing hundreds of people. During this time the great freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were arrested on the charges of throwing a bomb in the Central Assembly Hall to demonstrate their anger against the autocratic British rule. They were hanged to death on March 23, 1931 which let the people of India in great anger.

On the one hand Mahatma Gandhi was following methods of nonviolence and peace whereas on the other hand there was a group who wanted to get independence by any means. These revolutionaries were quite influential and inspired many others to join the freedom movement. Lala Lajpat Rai, Subhash Chandra Bose, Chander Shekhar Azad were some of the most influential leaders in the freedom struggle of the country. There were many other freedom fighters that had fought for the nation and sacrificed their lives. In August 1942, Gandhiji started the ‘Quit India Movement’ and decided to launch a mass civil disobedience movement ‘Do or Die’ call to force the British to leave India.

With the contribution of these freedom fighters and their freedom struggles and movements, India attained independence on 15 August 1947. The hardships they faced and the sacrifices they made (which even include many lives) led to the freedom of the country.
