(a) The image of E in the mirror will be such that right end and left end is interchanged. (attachment)

(b) The phenomenon involved is known as lateral inversion. The image in the mirror is said to be laterally inverted.

(a) Laterally inverted.

(b) Lateral Inversion

* A laterally inverted image appears to be backwards or reversed facing the wrong direction.

* It happens because the light in the mirror is reflected backwards and vice-versa.

* Under the phenomena of lateral inversion, the right side of the objects appears to be on the left.

* For example, when we hold a placard with letter 'b' on it, it  will appear to be letter 'd' in the mirror image.
