To find:

इससे विक्रय-मूल्य पर क्या प्रभाव पड़ेगा?

Solution:

Let's consider,

"x" → represents the original price of the fruits

"y" → represents the original no. of fruits sold

So,

The initial sale was = y × Rs. x = Rs. xy

Now,

The price of the fruits was decreased by 30%

So, The new price becomes = $x - \frac{30x}{100} = x - 0.3x = 0.7x$

and

The no. of fruits sold increased by 40%

So, The increased no. of fruits becomes = $y + \frac{40y}{100} = 1.4y$

∴ The new sale now becomes =  $0.7x \times 1.4y = Rs. \:0.98xy$

Since the new sale price is less than the initial sale price

Therefore,

The percentage decrease in the sale price is,

= $\frac{xy \:-\: 0.98xy}{xy} \times 100$

= $\frac{0.02xy}{xy} \times 100$

= $0.02 \times 100$

= $\bold{2\%}$

Thus,   the sale price is decreased by 2%.
