The answer is 64 grams.

GIVEN

Mass of Aluminium = 54 grams

TO FIND

Mass of Oxygen reacting with 54 grams of Aluminium.

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

The reaction between Aluminium and oxygen can be depicted as follows;

4Al + 3O₂ -------------> 2Al₂O₃

From the above reaction we can observe that,

4 moles of Aluminium reacts with 3 moles of oxygen

Therefore,

Moles of oxygen reacting with 1 mole of Aluminium = 3/4 moles

We know that,

1 mole of Aluminium = 27 grams

And,

1 mole of Oxygen gas = 32 grams

27 grams of Aluminum reacts with, 0.75 × 32 = 32 grams of oxygen.

Therefore,

Amount of Oxygen required to react with 54 grams of Aluminium =

 \frac{32}{27}   \times 54 = 64 \: grams

Hence, The answer is 64 grams.
