We have to find the amount of CaO produced by decomposition 1/4 th mole of CaCO₃.

solution : we know, when one mole of limestone (CaCO₃) is heated, one mole of Calcium oxide and one mole of carbon dioxide are produced.

i.e., CaCO₃ => CaO + CO₂

∵ one mole of CaCO₃ = one mole of CaO

∴ 1/4 mole of CaCO₃ = 1/4 mole of CaO

molar mass of CaO = atomic mass of Ca + atomic mass of O = 40 + 16 = 56 g/mol

mass of 1/4 mole of CaO = 1/4 mol × 56 g/mol = 14g

Therefore 14g of CaO is produced by decomposition of 1/4 mole of CaCO₃.
