Cell’s division time is 1 min . So at the end of 1 min,

1 cell divides into 2 =2^1 cells , then these 2 cells divides into 4 = 2^2 cells at the end of 2nd min.

So after 20 mins,the tube contains 2^20 cells which is equal to 1/8 part of the tube.

Therfore the total volume of cells that the tube can hold = 8 x 2^20 cells =2^3 x 2^20 = 2^23 cells.

Now,tube contains 2^20 cells at the end of 20 mins . So after 23 mins,tube reaches its maximum capacity of 2^23 cells.
