Explanation:

Given  A container is filled with two immiscible liquids A and B of densities 2 gcm-3 and 3 gcm , respectively, A wooden cube of side 1 cm floats on the surface of  liquid A such that one-fourth of its total length is  immersed in this liquid (A).  Now, the wooden cube is completely immersed  in liquid A by suspending a sinker of volume  10 cm which is completely submerged in liquid B.

Determine the weight of the sinker.

  • According to the law of floatation weight of the floating body is equal to the weight of the liquid displaced.
  • So when density of the object is same as density of the liquid, the object gets submerged in the liquid.
  • Therefore density of sinker = density of liquid = 3 gm / cm^3
  • So mass of sinker = density x volume
  •                              = 3 g/cm^3 x 10 cm^3
  •                               = 30 g

Answer:

Explanation:

HELLO DEAR,

Given: Two immiscible liquids A and B of density 2 g/cm^3 and 3g/cm^3

And a wooden cube of side= 1cm = volume = 1cm^3 is float on surface of liquid A such that

1/4 part of its total lenght is immersed in this liquidA.

And there is a sinker of volume 10cm^3 , which is completely submered in liquid B

with wooden cube .

TO FIND : The mass of sinker .

SOLUTION:Initialy wooden cube immereged in liquid A is 1/4 part of its height.

So, initially mass of displaced liquid A = {( volume of 1/4 part of wooden cube )× density of liquid A}

= {(1×1×1/4)×2}

= 1/2 gram.

Mass of remaining wooden cube =3/4 ×2 =3/2= 1.5 gram.

Mass of liquid B displaced by sinker = volume of sinker × density of liquidB

= 10× 3= 30 gram.

Therefore mass of sinker= mass of displace liquid B by sinker+ mass of 3/4 part of displaced liquid by wooden cube. ( because sinker is attached to wooden cube, so all dispaced liquid is done by the mass of sinker)

= 30+ 1.5

= 31.5 gram.

I HOPE IT'S HELP YOU DEAR,

THANKS.
