Given,

x and y are the temperatures of the hot and cold water.

z is the final temperature of their mixture.

Solution,

x and y are the temperatures of the hot and cold water.

Know that temperature of hot water is more than cold water so,

\[x > y\]

z is the final temperature of their mixture.

It is observed that when hot and cold water mixed, the temperature of hot water reduces and temperature of cold water increases. So common temperature lies between the temperature of hot and cold water.

z lies between x and y. It will be less than x but more than y.

\[x > z > y\]

The correct option is (3), i.e. \[x > z > y\]
