Explanation:

(a)The metal zinc readily reacts with hydrochloric acid to produce hydrogen gas (H2) and zinc chloride (ZnCl2). Every chemical reaction either produces or absorbs heat. In chemistry this effect is described as the reaction enthalpy. The zinc reaction produces the heat and hence has the negative enthalpy. The reaction between zinc and HCl is given by the symbolic equation Zn + HCl → ZnCl2 + H2.

(b)When hydrochloric acid reacts with any carbonates/hydrogen carbonates the products formed are metal chloride , water and carbon dioxide.Since HCl decomposes salts of weaker acids.

So the equation of the reaction between calcium carbonate and HCl is:

CaCO3+2HCl =CaCl2+H2O+CO2

This reaction is also known as double decomposition reaction.

(c) Hydrochloric acid reacts with sodium hydroxide to form sodium chloride (the salt) and water. Sodium chloride is made up of Na+ cations from the base (NaOH) and Cl- anions from the acid (HCl). HCl+NaOH→H2O+NaCl.
