According to the question, we have to add the expressions: (-5n) and (8n + 7).


Out of the two terms (-5n) and (8n + 7) it is evident that the constant doesn't have a pair to be added with but the term -5n has a similar term 8n to be added with.


Hence after adding the two similar terms: (-5n) and (8n) first, we get 8n - 5n = 3n.


Now we are left to add with the constant and the sum i.e. 3n and 7


So, we get 3n + 7. Since there are no common terms in between so we cannot further resolve it.


Therefore, on adding (-5n) and (8n + 7) we get (3n + 7) [Ans]
