We know that,

a + b = 180° ( As they are a linear pair and are hence supplementary )

a - b = 100° ( Given in the question )

Solving the above two equations we get,

a + b = 180

a - b = 100

b gets cancelled. We get,

2a = 280°

=> a = 280° / 2 = 140°

we know that a - b = 100

=> 140 - b = 100

=> 140 - 100 = b

=> 40 = b

Hence the angles are A = 140° and B = 40°.

a+b=180°

a-b=100°

equating these two,

a+b=180 -(a-b=100)

2b=(180-100)=40

b=80/2=40

now we can write,a+40=180

a=180-40=140

answer=d
