We have to find the distance of point p(-3,2) from y-axis.

since the required points is on y axis its x coordinate will be zero

∴ its point will be [0,a]

the distance of a point from the y axis is the x coordinate.

now observe the coordinate p(-3,2)

Since, the x-coordinate is -3 and y coordinate is 2

As, the distance of a point from the 'y' axis is the 'x' coordinat

which is[0-( -3)]. =[0+3] =3units.

Therefore, the distance of the point p(-3,2) is 3 units.
