1) The Chipko Movement began in April 1973 in Reni village of Chamoli , Uttrakhand,
2) When the people of Uttrakhand observed a large no. of deforestation was being performed , then they stated this movement in oder to preventing and saving trees from cutting.
3) When the woodcutters came to cut trees , all the people hugged the trees and told the woodcutters that if they want to cut trees , they have to cut them along too.
4) But still the woodcutters did not obeyed them and also cut them along with the trees.
5) Thousands of people were died and killed in this attempt .
6) But later , observing a large no. of the death of people and a larger and fast increase in the death rate , cutting of trees in such a large scale was stopped and everyone was said to plant at least one tree in or around rheir houses to promote reforestation .
