hey

= 5x^2 - 4x - 1 / x - 1

= 5x^2 + x - 5x - 1 / x - 1

= x(5x+1) - 1(5x+1) / x - 1

= (x-1)(5x+1) / x - 1

cancelling x - 1 we get

= 5x + 1
