Answer :

x = (3 + √19)/5 , (3 - √19)/5

Solution :

• Given quadratic equation : 5x²-6x-2 = 0

• To find : Roots by completing squaring method

We have ;

=> 5x² - 6x - 2 = 0

=> x² - (6/5)x - 2/5 = 0

=> x² - (6/5)x + (3/5)² - (3/5)² - 2/5 = 0

=> (x - 3/5)² - 9/25 - 2/5 = 0

=> (x - 3/5)² = 9/25 + 2/5

=> (x - 3/5)² = (9 + 10)/25

=> (x - 3/5)² = 19/25

=> x - 3/5 = √(19/25)

=> x - 3/5 = ± √19/5

=> x = 3/5 ± √19/5

=> x = (3 + √19)/5 , (3 - √19)/5

Hence ,

x = (3 + √19)/5 , (3 - √19)/5
