5x – 3y = 1 ...(1)
2x + 5y = 19 ...(2)
Multiplying (1) by 2 and (2) by 5 and then subtracting
10x – 6y = 2
10x + 25y = 95
____________
– 31y = – 93
y = 93 / 31
y = 3
Substituting y = 3 in (1)
5x – 3 (3) = 1
5x – 9 = 1
5x = 9 + 1
5x = 10
x = 10 / 5
x = 2
