Answer:

multiply first equation by 2 and second equation by 5

10x+6y=70

10x+20y=140

subtract the 2 equations. Gives 14y=70. y=5

substitute for y in first equation.  5x+15=35

5x=20

x=4

therefore  x=4 and y=5
