Answer:

SUBSTITUTION METHOD

5x+3y=47

x = 47 - 3y

x = (47 - 3y)/5

3x-5y = 1

3(47-3y)/5 - 5y = 1

(141 - 9y)/5 - 5y = 1

141/5 - 9y/5 - 5y = 1

-9y/5 - 5y = 1 - 141/5

(-9y -25y)/5 = (5 -141)/5

-34y/5 = -136/5

-34y = -136

y = 4

x = (47 - 3y)/5

x = [47 - 3(4)]/5

x = 35/5

x = 7

Answer:

5x+3y=47,3x-5y=1

5x+3y=47_eq-1

3x-5y=1_eq-2

do the cross multiplication for cancel x

multiply 3 in eq 1

multiply 5 in eq 2

we get,

15x+9y=141eq3

15x-25y=5eq4

by subtracting

34y=136

y=136/34

y=4

by putting the value of y in eq 2

3x-5y=1

3x-5(4)=1

3x-20=1

3x=1+20

3x=21

x=21/3

x=7
