Answer:

5X + 3Y = 5 (i)

2X + 4Y = 10 (ii)

MULTIPLY (i) BY 2

2 (5X + 3Y=5)

    10X + 6Y=10 (iii)

SUBSITUTING  (iii)

10X + Y=6 X 10

X + Y =60/10

X = 6Y

NOW PUTTING THE VALUE OF X IN (ii)

2X +4Y = 10

2(6Y) + 4Y =10

12Y + 4Y = 10

16Y = 10

Y = 10 - 16

Y= -6

NOW PUTTING THE VALUE OF Y IN (iii)

10X + 6(-6) = 10

10X + (-36) = 10

X - 36 = 10/10

X - 36= 1

X= 1- (-36)

X = 35

X = 35 , Y = -6
